AI Workflow Governance Framework
A structured operating framework for deciding where AI belongs in a business process, what controls are required, and who remains accountable.
1. Define the business outcome
State the process, owner, customer impact, baseline performance and measurable target. Do not start with the tool.
2. Classify the workflow
Assess frequency, business value, reversibility, data sensitivity, regulatory exposure and consequence of error.
3. Design the control model
- Human approval points
- Input and output validation
- Access and permission boundaries
- Audit trail and ownership
- Exception and rollback procedures
4. Define acceptance criteria
Specify accuracy thresholds, turnaround time, quality checks, failure handling and evidence required before production use.
5. Pilot and monitor
Run representative cases, record defects, compare against baseline and establish a review cadence.
